Humane Education Manager - Terri Hancock
Terri Hancock, CHES, is the Humane Education Manager for the Naperville Area Humane Society. Terri received her Certified Humane Education Specialist certification in 2007 from the National Association for Humane and Environmental Education and Humane Society University. She also has been a member of the Association of Professional Humane Educators since 2005.
Terri has had a variety of experience with animals since childhood. Her passion for animals took her around the world to places such as Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Alaska and the famed Galapagos Islands to name a few. She also hosted a TV show called Where the Wild Things Are, filmed on location at Brookfield Zoo. Her lifetime of commitment to animal welfare led her to volunteer with pet therapy and foster programs and, ultimately, to working for NAHS.
Terri has found her dream job at NAHS and has enjoyed working with preschoolers to adults since 2005. Terri is responsible for all the educational programs at the shelter. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, Paws for Tales reading program, summer camp, after-school program, spring break junior internship program, shelter tours, school presentations, birthday parties, and the adult seminar series. Terri feels strongly that the future of animal welfare depends greatly upon education of children and adults, and she looks forward to expanding current programs and growing with the Naperville Area Humane Society.
