A New Home for a Brighter Future

Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) is undertaking a capital campaign in order to build a new facility to replace the small antiquated 3,500 sq ft building currently located on Diehl Road. The new facility, on purchased land near Frontenac and Montgomery Roads, will allow us to increase animal capacity by three times and implement new lifesaving programs.

Key elements of the new facility include:

• on-site surgical and veterinary treatment center
• pet housing designed around animal well-being
• dedicated space for education and training
• heating and cooling system engineered to prevent disease transmission
• green design to reduce environmental impact

Since 1979, NAHS has been dedicated to saving animals. The demand for our programs and services grows each year. Due to our limited shelter space animals are frequently placed on a waiting list to get into the facility.

Our new facility will be able to expand critical programs including:

• animal adoptions
• on-site behavior assistance for pet owners
• pet therapy for the elderly and infirm
• youth-at-risk programs
• summer camp and after-school programs
• a safe haven for pets of domestic violence victims

With a new facility, NAHS will be able to implement new programs such as:

• in-house surgical and veterinary care
• obedience training to increase retention
• on-site education and training
• volunteer and education programs for individuals with special needs
• increase the number of animals sheltered at our facility
• adoption program for pocket pets

The needs of the 450,000 residents that NAHS serves continue to grow. Pets have become an integral part of the community and available animal services must increase. NAHS needs your help!
