Executive Director - Angie Wood
Angie Wood is the Executive Director for Naperville Area Humane Society. Angie received her bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 1996 and a master's degree in Animal Science emphasizing animal welfare and well-being in 1998 from Purdue University.
Angie has had a variety of experiences working with animals, including six years as an animal caretaker and veterinary technician for a small animal practice veterinary clinic, an internship with Brookfield Zoo as a zookeeper in their animal hospital and one and a half years with Tippecanoe County Humane Society in Lafayette, Indiana, as an animal caretaker, adoption counselor and humane educator.
Since she started with NAHS in 1998, Angie has shifted from a part-time Humane Educator to the full-time Executive Director. Angie oversees the daily shelter operations, managing staff and all of NAHS’ programs and services. This includes eight staff members, 400 volunteers and more than 1,200 cats and dogs in a year.
Angie currently serves as the president of the Illinois Animal Welfare Federation. She has been a member of the board of directors for this membership-based organization since 2000. In addition, Angie serves as co-chair for the Prairie States Animal Welfare Conference. Finally, Angie also serves as a board member for the National Federation of Humane Societies.
