Name Age Breed Sex Status Declawed Status
Boo 2Y 0M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

BOO! Did I startle you? Since my fur has so many colors, I can sometimes blend in, sort of like a Chameleon. I'm a friendly girl who can sometimes be overwhelmed in new situations or with new people. Once I’m comfortable in my surroundings, I'm quite content. I enjoy playing, but sometimes I can be too rough for young children. I would probably enjoy a nice friendly cat in my new home with whom I can become great pals. I'm not sure if I like dogs because I've never seen one up close. I have heard stories, though. They say that "life is but a dream," and my dream is a forever home with a family who loves me for who I am.

Clark 6Y 6M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

I was brought to NAHS because someone in my previous home developed allergies to me.  My owners were very sad but had only great things to say about me.  Some words they used to describe me are outgoing, playful, and affectionate.  Some of my favorite toys include toy mice, strings, and feathers.  I can also be very vocal, especially when I'm hungry, but who isn't?  So what do you say, am I the guy you've been searching for?

Count Chocula 6Y 4M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

Count Chocula here, can you guess why that's my name?  It's not just because of my coloring.  I'll give you a hint, it has to do with my teeth too.  I think they make me very unique.  I'm a little on the shy side, and am cautious when meeting new people.  Once I get comfortable I enjoy being near people and can get pretty playful.  I might be happiest being an only pet, but I do get along with other cats as well.

Gypsy 6Y 2M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

Hi there, my name is Gypsy! Don't you just love my unique coloring? I think it gives me a lot of character. I came to NAHS because my owners didn't have enough time for me, so now I'm looking for a family that is going to give me all the love and attention I deserve. I can be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you I am very affectionate and playful. I might be okay living with another friendly, mellow cat and a calm, gentle dog might be fine as well. Because I can be a little shy at first, I think children in my new home should be at least 5 years or older.

Harvey 7Y 7M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

Well, this is not where I thought I'd be at this point in my life. I thought I was all set. Guess not. It seems that my previous family became to busy to spend time with me, and that stressed me out. I was very lonely. I'm friendly, affectionate, and mellow, and searching for a forever place to chill. When it's playtime, I enjoy feather toys, toy mice and catnip… lots of catnip. I've had a lot of changes in my life, so I need some consistency to feel comfortable and safe. If you have the time to spend with me, I'll be forever grateful. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Helen 11Y 3M Domestic Shorthair Female Adopted! All Four

I came to NAHS because my previous owners were moving and could not take me with. One very unique thing about me is that I am deaf. I don't let this stop me from living my life. My previous owners said that I am friendly, affectionate, and playful. I really enjoy playing with toys and like to carry them around with me. I can be shy around new people though so it would be best if my new home had a quiet and calm atmosphere. I do require a special diet to help keep my hyperthyroid issues in check.

Kitty 3Y 3M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

Come closer and you'll see that I'm a polydactyl cat, also known as a Hemingway cat. What does that mean? It means I have extra toes. It looks as if I have thumbs! Don't worry, though. I can't open jars or doors… at least I don't think I can. I'm very friendly, but I can be shy in new situations. I hope my new family will understand how stressful change can be for cats. I enjoy being adored and doing normal cat things: eating, sleeping, playing, and watching what's going on outside from a safe inside perch. I also like to read Hemingway, for obvious reasons.

Loretta 2Y 5M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

If it weren't for the kindness of strangers, I might not be here (or anywhere) to tell my story. I was found in an Oklahoma cornfield nursing a litter of newborn kittens. When I came to NAHS (after a long ride with a bunch of dogs), I'd really never had anyone to care about me. It's taken me a while to get used to attention, but sometimes I even ask for it now. I need a very patient, understanding family who willl let me get used to new surroundings on my own schedule. Going to a new home where nothing is familiar to me will be stressful and scary. When I'm comfortable and trusting, I'm quite playful and curious. I'd be best in a calm home with older kids.

Lucinda 5Y 2M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

My name means Light in Latin. How pretty is that? Actually I had to Google the meaning. I’m not at all bi-lingual; I speak only Cat. I might be a little shy at first, but I do enjoy having company and meeting new people. I can be a snuggler and a player--it all depends in my mood. Isn't that just a typical cat? I've been waiting for my turn at a forever home for a while. Do you need some Light in your life? Go ahead, then.  Take a chance on me!

Vienna 1Y 2M Domestic Shorthair Female Available No

I'm quite the continental girl: I like sausages, tortes, Mozart, and the waltz… all things Viennese. I'm very outgoing and a little on the chatty side, especially when it's time to eat. I'm playful, pretty gentle, and affectionate. I'm also FIV-positive, but please don't let that scare you. I can live a long, happy life. It would be best, though, if my homelife could be relatively stress-free. I'm not a fan of other cats, but I might enjoy living with a calm, gentle dog!

Waldo 6Y 3M Domestic Shorthair Male Available No

Where's Waldo? I'm here… the orange tabby wearing the brown collar. I don't have to worry about blending in with the crowd, because in my opinion, I'm one in a million. I was found wandering the streets of Chicago, all alone, just wanting someone to care for me. I'm very thankful now to have a safe place to be and nothing to worry about. I'm a pretty gentle guy, and my idea of a great day would be bird watching (from inside the house), sleeping in the sun, having a bite to eat, nudging you for some pets, and repeating. I am FIV positive, but that doesn't mean I can't live a normal life. My stress level should be kept as low as possible, and I should definitely have yearly vet visits. If you're lucky enough to welcome me into your family, please don't dress me in a red and white stiped shirt.  LOL!
